2 years ago Mikayla "helped" her daddy wash the car. Today she helped again. How can two years go by in a blink of an eye?

teething can be hard
Austin is 8 months old now and has been teething since he was 6 months old. His first two teeth that came in were on the bottom and it didn't seem to bother him that much. But, then all of a sudden he started chewing on just about anything and slobbering everywhere. Finally, a few weeks ago one of the teeth on the top broke through and now another one will soon be following. Before we know it, we will be saying goodbye to a completely toothless grin!

strange fascination with running water
So, I have this sweet little girl who has this strange fascination with putting her hands in running water. Today was one of those days where she just couldn't get enough! I often will find that she is "missing in action" and go to find her in my bathroom playing in the water. (I'm now locking the door, but I often forget, and she knows!) She also enjoys putting her hands in the sink when I'm doing the dishes, just to get her hands in the water. Earlier today, I noticed that Austin was chewing on one of the books. I walked out of the room for a moment and then I heard her running down the hall, but didn't think much of it. A couple of minutes later, I didn't hear anything and I found her (again) back in the bathroom "washing off" the book. It was soaking wet! I tried to just remember, she was trying to help her mommy by washing off Austin's slobber.
These pictures I've posted are actually from a few days ago when I caught her in my bathroom making a mess. I walked in to find her playing in the water and she just looks at me and says, "Wash, mommy, wash." At least she's learning good hygiene.

who knew a pile of laundry could be so fun?
Laundry day was yesterday and I got everything done, but my last load I pulled out of the dryer was still sitting in the basket waiting to be folded. I come out of the back room to find my sweet babes playing in the pile of towels that I'm sure Mikayla dumped out. Austin is really enjoying climbing up on things these days, so he was having a blast and Mikayla loves to fall into any sort of pile there is. Forget the toys, bring on the laundry! Now if I can only get them to help me fold the laundry and think that it's just as fun.

and here they are...
Most of you who will be reading this blog are friends or family, so really there is no need to introduce you to my two beautiful children, but I wanted to share why I named this blog Blue Eyed Blessings. My wonderful husband was blessed with blue eyes and therefore passed that gene off to our children. I love when the light hits their eyes just right and they pop out in the most beautiful color blue. I am so blessed to have three of the most amazing blue eyed blessings to call my own...a husband, a daughter, and a son. I started this blog so that I could not only share with you those blessings, but to also give me an opportunity to stop and remember that each day I have to spend with my family is a blessing. I hope you enjoy this journey of mine (with all the ups and downs) of being a stay at home mom...a day in the life of me, plus three.
