talent show...my little dancer!

Mikayla decided she wanted to participate this year in her school talent show. After going back and forth on what she was going to do that didn't require too much work and/or coordination with others, we decided it would be fun if she performed the dance routine she is learning from her dance class. With just a couple of extra weeks of practice, a quick dig through her dance costume drawer, and some cute ringlets for her hair...she was set to go!! I was so proud of my sweet girl and her confidence to meet this opportunity head on and enjoy the limelight for 1 minute and 28 seconds. :)

Mikayla has "officially" graduated 4's pre-school and in just a little over 2 months will be starting Kindergarten.

Wait...give me a minute to let that sink in.

Nope...it will take much longer than a minute!

The Graduation Day started out with a picnic lunch and cupcakes!

Mikayla's teacher gave each of the students a special memory album of pictures she had taken throughout the year. I thought that was very sweet.


The kids sang some songs which Mikayla had been practicing at home. It was fun to watch her animation, but you could still tell she was a bit more shy up "on stage" than what she would be if she were singing them at home.


Then it came time for the teachers to call each of the students' names and to hand them their "certificate of graduation".

What a blessing it was for Mikayla to have a year of being with her friends she already knew before pre-school started! I know this school was exactly where Mikayla was meant to be this year, especially with two of her best girlfriends leaving and with her beginning her elementary education in another town starting next year. I look back and am so thankful for this year!

class of 2024?!

We attended Mikayla's Kindergarten "Round Up" a week and a half ago. I can't believe I'm signing my baby girl up for Kindergarten!

One of the stations was having your child get their fingerprints printed.

Next up we went to visit a couple of the teachers and the classrooms.

They colored a picture of a sunflower...

...and got to plant a sunflower seed. The teachers said that when the sunflower seedling starts growing into a flower, then it would be time for Kindergarten to begin! I thought that was such a cute idea. Now let's just hope her seedling will sprout, so we can transport it, so it will grow! *wink*

The kids played on the playground for a little bit.

And then we went for a quick bus ride. I think she was a little disappointed to find out that we live too close for her to take the bus (not like I would let my BABY take the bus!!)

Class of 2024...that just sounds so crazy!

Daddy got to take a break from work for a bit to come with us, but had to leave before we did, so he took the van home to get his car and because it was a beautiful day, we got to walk home! I'm hoping for many nice days (wishful thinking!) so we can walk to pick her up after school as much as we can. There is a park on the way, so it will be fun to let them play a little each day.

There weren't any tears shed, but come the first day of school, we'll see if that still holds true!
