Tonight after dinner the kids were playing around and we were having some fun family time. The kids were giggling with daddy and Austin was being silly and putting his blanket over his head and running around. All of the sudden Ryan and I both heard a {smack!} and we looked over and Austin had run into the entertainment unit. Thinking that he had bonked his head really hard, we took the blanket off his head only to see blood pouring from his forehead! We suddenly went into panic mode and applied pressure to it all the while Austin was screaming. We knew it was more serious than a minor cut, so we did the best we could to put gauze over it and wrap his head. He fought us pretty hard, but we finally got him calmed down enough to take him to the hospital.
It was only a little after 7:00 PM, so we headed just down the road to Urgent Care instead of taking him to the ER. They took us in pretty much immediately where they shared that he would definitely have to get stitches. You should have seen this poor little boy's face every time a doctor or nurse would just look at him. He was so sad! I opted not to be in the room while they had to hold down our little guy to give him stitches. Ryan was the brave one. I knew I would just be in tears the whole time seeing my sweet baby in so much pain. Unfortunately, I could even hear him screaming from where I was in the waiting room. It was torture for me! It felt like forever, but in a matter of minutes it was over and my sweet boy wanted his momma to hold him, and of course I did.
Not long after, we headed back home and with a little Motrin, a quick bedtime story, and a kiss, Austin was in bed and ready for some much needed sleep. The little guy had three stitches, lots of tears, and an exhausting evening to say the least. I hope that he is a little happier in the morning!

Poor Austin. I am so sorry. It is so hard on us Mama when our babies are hurt. I hope you get some rest.
Poor baby-and poor momma!! It is hard to see them hurt!
Jen
Hope he has a restful night.
Wish I could have been there to help you out.
Love ya!
Mom
Oh Mama I don't know what I would have done! I can't even think about it. Poor little guy! So brave!
The poor baby. I wouldn't have been in the room either. I hope he feels better soon. He's going to need lots of popsicles and TLC!
What a long night for both of you! I hope he was able to get a good night sleep. I am so sorry. I know how hard that sort of thing is. One of the not so fun aspects of being a mama. You know those things are going to happen, but it still hurts.
I hope he's feeling better today! Tough night for both of you!
Poor thing! Princess did the same thing when she was about three - fortunately the doctor said she didn't need stitches.
Hope he's feeling better this morning!

oooohhhhhh
those poor sweet eyes!
Awww. Poor thing! I bet that was scary...mine have never needed stitches, but they have gotten cuts on their head before and they bleed so bad!
bless his little heart! I'm so thankful we haven't had stitches yet. I hope he's feeling better and heals quickly.
Poor little guy. I'm glad he's on the mend now. It's so hard when they get hurt. We haven't ever had stitches(knock on wood. Both my kids have had cuts that were basically superglued back together. Hope your day is better.
Poor lil' guy! Hope he's all better as soon as possible. Kid's are so resilient, so I'm sure he'll be up and running quicker than you can blink! :)
Poor guy! That must have been so scary for him (and you). We'll be praying his head heals up quickly.
Aww...poor baby!! Hope all is well this morning and he wakes up with smiles!!

Poor little guy. It is so hard to hear them cry and know you really can't do much. Hope he feel better.
Poor guy! I hope that he is feeling better today! And yes I think sometime it is harder on us watching them be in pain...
Austin - we are sorry to hear about your stitches, you are such a brave little boy! Riley and Parker are so excited to see you and Mikayla this weekend, hopefully you will have so much fun at the carnival, you'll forget you had stitches!
Love Aunt Kristen
Boys...
I hope he's feeling better today!
Poor Austin. I know what you mean about panic mode. Trey cut his head last week and since it was a head injury I just lost it. Thank goodness for urgent care. Hope everyone got a good nights rest.
Poor little guy. Ouch! Model probably could have used a little stitch for her head injury the other day too....I hate head injuries.
That is so hard! My boy had something similar happen several months ago. If your spouse could handle being in the room, you made the right choice not to be there. I was alone with the boy, so I had no choice and it was awful! Once you get the stitches out, try Mederma to take care of the scar...worked well for us.
Bless his heart...and head!! Ouch...head injuries...yuck! Hope he is doing better now! You too!
Poor thing! For some reason as parents we get to become familiar with the ER and Urgent Care, yuck! :-)
Poor little guy!! It stinks when they get hurt because there is nothing you can do to take away the pain, at least you can be there when all they want is a hug from mommy!!
Sorry to hear he had a tough night! Had you taken him to the ER we would have been able to say hi!
Hope he is better today!
What an eventful night. Sorry that all happened:( You can tell him how cool his stitches are and how tough he when he is feeling better:)
That breaks my heart! Hope he feels better in the morning. Poor little cutie!
Oh, poor punkin! And that is why blankets are on the "unsafe toy list" at our house.
OH NO! Poor Austin! I remember having to get stitches on my forhead...TWICE. It's not fun. Hope he is doing better today. Hope you are coping as well. Seeing your kids in pain is NEVER easy.
My brother did the same thing when he was Austin's age - no lasting damage. :) Poor guy, I hope he gets better soon!
Oh no!! Poor Austin and poor Austin's mommy. :-( I hope he's not worse for the wear, by now.
