mommy, I need you

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about balance, quality time, priorities, and commitments. I have had a couple of encounters these last few days that have made me think about it even more and it has really been on my heart! On Monday, I received an e-mail asking me how I balance my busy life (I didn't have a good answer), and just today I read a blog post from a blog I follow asking questions about balancing daily life (I didn't have a good answer).

And, after these two simple encounters, I'm finally realizing that my babies and my wonderful hubby desperately need their mommy and wife without distractions, so I'm going to be MIA for a bit. I don't know how long that will be, but I think I need a little bit of a blogging break. I've been going non-stop these days with trying to get something posted every day. I'm enjoying it, but there are a lot of things that I have been neglecting because of it and I need to get back to my priorities. God. My family. Me. My responsibilities.

I hope to be back soon, but only after I figure out how to get the right kind of balance in my commitments to my family (number one) and the things that I am responsible for in other areas of my life. I'm just trying to figure out how to juggle this life as a stay-at-home mom and enjoy it along the way! I'm not sure I'm doing the best job I can, so I need to figure out how I can change that.

I know that we all go through this kind of thing in our life where we need to take a step back and figure out what's not working. In fact, I think it's healthy to evaluate our lives often. This is {one of} my times. I'm not giving up on blogging because I have really enjoyed the relationships I have built so far, but as I was telling my husband I do need a break and I realize that. And, instead of just quitting something that I find inspiring, I just need to see how I can incorporate it into my daily life without it being my main priority.

So, for however long it takes, I'm on a mission to find what "balance" means to me! Wish me luck...

Heidi,
You are definately not alone. Blogging can be so addicting! I trying to make myself do my morning routine before I even get on the computer! It's helping. I've also set a timer.

I've spent too much time on the computer since I began in November. I think my bottom is showing that as well! Priorities, priorities, priorities! See you soon!

After I had Maya, I stopped blogging for a few months. I closed down my former blog and printed it out to have as a reminder of everything that I had written about. Then I got pregnant with Declan and wanted to blog about it all over again and thus started my new blog you read today. I think we all need to take a step back and keep our family first. It's so hard at first but you will be happy you did in the end. Good luck finding your balance sister friend.

Blogging does suck you in and if my kids were little and home all day I would be doing the same thing.

I am trying to get better at blogging only during my "personal-time" or when the family is off doing their thing. I have become way too involved and need to reevaluate as well.

I admire your commitment to make a change.

Take a rest and come back on your terms~refreshed!

Happy Spring!

OK, now that I've gotten that off of my chest and I move on, wipe tears and wish you a great time balancing. I will miss reading your blog daily, but spending time with family is so much better.

Thanks for all of my comments too, I'm glad you were able to catch up! The grilling was WONDERFUL and I can't wait to do it more and more. I have realized that we are alike and I like getting tips from you.

Enjoy your time and we'll be here when you get back!

I totally understand. Blogging takes up a lot of time. Sometimes I just have to leave the computer off until I get all my work and family time done. That is why I usually post and make comments late at night. However that runs into staying up to late. Since we were needing balance in the Miller house we have a rule now that we have to be in bed by 11 pm. So if that means no blogging that day, so be it. I hope you get everything worked out, and enjoy your time with your family. Have a blessed week.

Hey Heidi,

I hope you have a good break and find just the right balance for you, or as I like to put it "just the right mixture of things" to allow you to live a joyful, Godly life...because really who can be totally balanced all the time, life is just too crazy. Love you girl.

I understand how you feel! I've had to pull back as well. I'm currently trying out this system: I do my post in the morning after the kids get off to school. I try not to be on the computer throughout the day while I'm interacting with my family. Then after hubby goes to work, and I get the kids in bed, I have my blogging time.

I haven't figured out when to sleep yet though!

I have had those same feelings! Good luck on your break...sometimes that's all it takes to get perspective and balance!

Hey crazy lady. Hope you're finding your zen. ;-) Ya gotta do what works for you. Like Rhonda, I try to get my morning routine done before I even sit down at the computer, unless I have a morning shift. Then I am usually not on much until naptime or in the evening when I'm working. Makes it hard to comment a lot, but I'm tryin!
