all it takes is a little creativity...and some Mod Podge

Today is the day where Mod Podge Mania is happening at This is the Year! Get ready to be inspired by lots of little projects that you can do with some simple coats of the "magic glue" we all (should) know and love!

My original project didn't quite come together due to needing some extra supplies that I didn't have time to get, so I went with Plan B! I wanted a little bucket that was large enough to hold my small craft punches in my creative space.

Before I started, I gathered together all of the supplies that I thought I might need. I pretty much was right on as I worked on the project, but found I needed glue dots, also.

Are you wondering why I wouldn't just use the metal bucket "as is"? Because this is what it looked like when you turn it over. It was from the Dollar Tree, so what do you expect? Needless to say, it needed a makeover. Its real function is to be used as a planter...just so you know.

First things first...figure out where you need to trim the paper on the top and bottom to make it fit over the bucket.

In the end, it should look a little something like this. Notice the curved shape since the bucket has a slight slope. You will end up having two pieces that you will overlap a little on the sides.

Then simply glue the paper down with some strokes of Mod Podge.

And, after both sides are glued down (and remember they will overlap each other), give it a generous coat of Mod Podge to give it a good seal (this is my favorite part of Mod Podge!)

I added some button embellishments for an extra touch using small glue dots (oh, and by the way, just a reminder to not forget to get your button projects ready for Thursday and come on back to link up for my monthly craft challenge)

~my little helper~
button sorting kept him busy and entertained!
The final project in its "home"...for now. I'm constantly moving things around in my creative space to make it work for me. We'll see how long it lasts in this place.

Head on over to This is the Year for Mod Podge Mania AND visit Kimm at Reinvented for some great Trash to Treasure makeovers...my project is kind of trash to treasure, right?...who would really want to keep that tin bucket looking "as is".

And, this isn't the first time I've made one of these. Check out my Halloween treat bucket (this one was before I found the dollar cheapy tins) & Valentine's bucket. These are super easy to make and they turn out so functional (and cute)!

Ha, I noted the buttons on it right away! Got buttons on the brain right now or what? Looking forward to the big reveal coming up for some new ideas! With my swap projects taking up most of my time I don't think I'll be able to link up until towards the end of the week but better late than ever right? Love that it's a bucket from the dollar store and love how you put your little punches in it. Great idea and so anxious to see more Stampin' Up stuff I really liked the birdie stamp you used.
